Sundar Pichai, DG de Google, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 cette semaine que l&rsquo;entreprise est en train d&rsquo;apporter des changements \u00e0 ses espaces physiques pour mieux soutenir ses employ\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;avenir \u2014 un avenir qui, selon lui, comprendra des \u00ab\u00a0mod\u00e8les hybrides\u00a0\u00bb de travail. <em>\u00ab\u00a0Je vois l&rsquo;avenir comme \u00e9tant d\u00e9finitivement plus flexible\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, explique Sundar Pichai lors d&rsquo;une interview vid\u00e9o pour Time 100.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0Nous croyons fermement qu&rsquo;\u00eatre ensemble, avoir ce sens de la communaut\u00e9, est super important. Chaque fois que vous devez r\u00e9soudre des probl\u00e8mes difficiles, vous devez cr\u00e9er quelque chose de nouveau. Sundar Pichai a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que Google \u00ab\u00a0reconfigure\u00a0\u00bb ses espaces de bureau pour les adapter \u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;il appelle les &lsquo;on-sites&rsquo; \u2014 vraisemblablement des jours o\u00f9 les employ\u00e9s, qui travaillent principalement \u00e0 domicile, se r\u00e9unissent au bureau.<\/p>\n<p>Google a \u00e9t\u00e9 l&rsquo;une des premi\u00e8res grandes entreprises de la tech \u00e0 annoncer que les employ\u00e9s pourraient continuer \u00e0 travailler \u00e0 domicile jusqu&rsquo;en juillet 2021. \u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, le Wall Street Journal rapportait que la d\u00e9cision avait \u00e9t\u00e9 prise en partie pour aider les parents qui travaillent et dont les enfants pourraient assister aux cours partiellement ou totalement \u00e0 distance cette ann\u00e9e scolaire. Sundar Pichai explique que plusieurs facteurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pris en compte dans cette d\u00e9cision.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, j&rsquo;ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que ce serait une p\u00e9riode de grande incertitude, alors nous avons voulu donner des certitudes l\u00e0 o\u00f9 nous le pouvions\u00a0\u00bb,<\/em> raconte Sundar Pichai. <em>\u00ab\u00a0La raison pour laquelle nous avons pris la d\u00e9cision de travailler \u00e0 domicile jusqu&rsquo;au milieu de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e prochaine est que nous avons r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que les gens faisaient de gros efforts pour planifier&#8230; et que cela affectait la productivit\u00e9.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sundar Pichai explique que cette d\u00e9cision \u00e0 long terme a forc\u00e9 l&rsquo;entreprise \u00e0 accepter sa nouvelle r\u00e9alit\u00e9 : le travail \u00e0 domicile est l\u00e0 pour durer, au moins dans une certaine mesure. Et les employ\u00e9s semblent \u00eatre d&rsquo;accord : une r\u00e9cente enqu\u00eate interne \u00e0 l&rsquo;entreprise a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que 62% des employ\u00e9s pensent qu&rsquo;ils n&rsquo;ont besoin d&rsquo;\u00eatre au bureau que \u00ab\u00a0certains jours\u00a0\u00bb pour bien faire leur travail, tandis que 20% n&rsquo;ont pas du tout l&rsquo;impression de devoir venir au bureau.<\/p>\n<p>Sundar Pichai a \u00e9galement abord\u00e9 un probl\u00e8me plus vaste pour les habitants de la baie de San Francisco : l&rsquo;accessibilit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re. Le co\u00fbt de la vie dans la Bay Area est devenu, ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, trop \u00e9lev\u00e9, m\u00eame pour ceux qui pourraient \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme des hauts revenus dans d&rsquo;autres r\u00e9gions. San Francisco est la ville la plus ch\u00e8re des \u00c9tats-Unis, et toute personne int\u00e9ress\u00e9e par l&rsquo;achat d&rsquo;une maison dans la ville doit gagner au moins 100.000 dollars (86.000 euros) pour pouvoir payer son hypoth\u00e8que.<\/p>\n<p>En raison du co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9 du logement, les personnes qui travaillent \u00e0 San Francisco ou dans les villes avoisinantes, comme Mountain View o\u00f9 est bas\u00e9 Google, doivent souvent d\u00e9m\u00e9nager loin de la ville pour pouvoir s&rsquo;offrir un logement. Il en r\u00e9sulte de longs trajets pour les habitants de la Bay Area. En 2019, une \u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par Apartment List a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que plus de 120 000 personnes, appel\u00e9es \u00ab\u00a0super-navetteurs\u00a0\u00bb, faisaient la navette au moins trois heures par jour. Dans certains comt\u00e9s de la Bay Area, le nombre de \u00ab\u00a0super-navetteurs\u00a0\u00bb a augment\u00e9 de 126% entre 2009 et 2017.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0Quand je vois des gens qui font la navette deux heures par jour, loin de leur famille et de leurs amis, un vendredi soir, on se rend compte qu&rsquo;ils ne peuvent pas avoir de projets\u00a0\u00bb,<\/em> regrette Sundar Pichai.\u00a0Il explique que Google a depuis longtemps pour philosophie que le bureau doit \u00eatre amusant \u2014pour des raisons de productivit\u00e9, assure-t-il, mais aussi pour am\u00e9liorer la vie personnelle des employ\u00e9s.
