Les nouveaux managers sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement attendus au tournant et somm\u00e9s de prendre rapidement les r\u00eanes, alors m\u00eame qu\u2019ils re\u00e7oivent souvent des conseils ambigus plut\u00f4t que des orientations claires.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Cons\u00e9quence? Beaucoup se laissent pi\u00e9ger par des croyances bien intentionn\u00e9es mais mal avis\u00e9es sur le leadership. Hogan Assessments, leader mondial des \u00e9valuations de personnalit\u00e9, s\u2019est pench\u00e9 sur ces \u00ab\u00a0contes de f\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb de l\u2019entreprise moderne ; des mythes inspirants et motivants qui, suivis aveugl\u00e9ment, peuvent rapidement nuire \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe, \u00e0 la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 du manager et \u00e0 la carri\u00e8re elle-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Conte de f\u00e9e n\u00b01 : L\u2019ouverture aux autres<\/em> <em>\u2013 Quand la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 co\u00fbte cher<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLa vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 est devenue l\u2019un de ces mots \u00e0 la mode que l\u2019on retrouve partout. L\u2019id\u00e9e selon laquelle un leader efficace doit se montrer ouvert, \u00e9motionnellement disponible et pr\u00eat \u00e0 d\u00e9voiler son c\u00f4t\u00e9 humain est s\u00e9duisante mais seulement lorsqu\u2019elle est appliqu\u00e9e avec mesure. La fronti\u00e8re est t\u00e9nue, et nombre de nouveaux managers n\u2019en prennent conscience qu\u2019une fois celle-ci franchie.<\/p>\n<p>Un partage \u00e9motionnel excessif brouille la ligne entre vie professionnelle et vie personnelle et accro\u00eet la charge mentale du manager comme de son \u00e9quipe. Une r\u00e9cente \u00e9tude de l\u2019Agence europ\u00e9enne pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et la sant\u00e9 au travail (AESST) r\u00e9v\u00e8le d\u2019ailleurs que 59% des travailleurs europ\u00e9ens consid\u00e8rent les sollicitations \u00e9motionnelles comme une source majeure de stress.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0Lorsque les leaders confient trop librement leurs \u00e9tats d\u2019\u00e2me ou expriment ouvertement leur m\u00e9contentement, ils imposent une charge \u00e9motionnelle suppl\u00e9mentaire \u00e0 leurs collaborateurs : au lieu d\u2019accomplir leurs missions, ces derniers se retrouvent \u00e0 jouer les th\u00e9rapeutes\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, souligne le Dr Ryne Sherman.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019intelligence \u00e9motionnelle reste une comp\u00e9tence essentielle en leadership. Mais elle doit s\u2019accompagner de discipline \u00e9motionnelle. Une vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 sans filtre n\u2019instaure pas la confiance : elle la fragilise.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Conte de f\u00e9e n\u00b02 : \u00catre soi-m\u00eame &#8211; Le pi\u00e8ge de l\u2019authenticit\u00e9<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n\u00ab\u00a0Soyez vous-m\u00eame\u00a0\u00bb est sans doute le conseil le plus souvent donn\u00e9 aux nouveaux leaders. Mais que se passe-t-il lorsque l\u2019on est naturellement anxieux, impulsif, ou dot\u00e9 d\u2019une franchise brutale ? Mal appliqu\u00e9e, l\u2019authenticit\u00e9 peut se transformer en v\u00e9ritable pi\u00e8ge. Elle revient alors \u00e0 privil\u00e9gier ses propres id\u00e9es, valeurs et envies, sans tenir compte des autres.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0La conscience strat\u00e9gique de son propre temp\u00e9rament, bien plus que l\u2019authenticit\u00e9 brute, est ce qui distingue un manager ordinaire d\u2019un excellent leader. On n\u2019\u00e9crit pas dans un journal intime : on s\u2019adresse \u00e0 des collaborateurs plac\u00e9s sous son autorit\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, rappelle le Dr Ryne Sherman.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Conte de f\u00e9e n\u00b03 : Le charisme est un atout<\/em> <em>\u2013 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019il ne le soit plus<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLe charisme s\u00e9duit. Il capte l\u2019attention, insuffle de l\u2019\u00e9nergie dans l\u2019environnement de travail et peut rapidement ouvrir les portes \u00e0 des postes de management. Mais le charisme n\u2019est pas une strat\u00e9gie en soi, et encore moins un substitut aux comp\u00e9tences r\u00e9elles.<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9tude europ\u00e9enne men\u00e9e par l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Lausanne r\u00e9v\u00e8le que 60% des leaders jug\u00e9s tr\u00e8s charismatiques obtiennent de faibles r\u00e9sultats en \u00ab\u00a0performance d\u2019\u00e9quipe \u00e0 long terme\u00a0\u00bb et en \u00ab\u00a0clart\u00e9 de la prise de d\u00e9cision\u00a0\u00bb. Des chiffres r\u00e9v\u00e9lateurs, notamment dans les environnements \u00e0 forts enjeux o\u00f9 l\u2019exc\u00e8s de confiance se traduit souvent par des promesses spectaculaires\u2026 et rarement tenues.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, si le charisme impressionne \u00e0 court terme, il dissimule fr\u00e9quemment des lacunes en responsabilit\u00e9, en planification et en fiabilit\u00e9. Les conseils de leadership les plus r\u00e9pandus, bien qu\u2019apparaissant rassurants, manquent trop souvent de nuance.
