Voici 6 pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s battus en br\u00e8che par les observations de neuroscientifiques dans le cadre d&rsquo;une \u00e9tude commandit\u00e9e par Steelcase.<!--more--><\/h1>\n<p>Alors que nous pensons faire preuve d\u2019intelligence, des hypoth\u00e8ses erron\u00e9es \u00e0 propos de notre cerveau et des comportements qui en d\u00e9coulent, se traduisent par une baisse de productivit\u00e9 et par de moins bonnes performances.<\/p>\n<p>Comme le souligne l&rsquo;\u00e9tude mentionn\u00e9e ci dessus, <em>\u00ab\u00a0le flux incessant de courriels, la multitude de messages des m\u00e9dias sociaux et le grand nombre d\u2019appareils que nous utilisons, ne sont que quelques-unes des causes qui font en sorte que nous \u00e9prouvons des difficult\u00e9s \u00e0 nous concentrer au travail. Du coup, nous aspirons \u00e0 en faire plus en moins de temps. La \u2018pression cognitive\u2019 ou \u2018le stress au travail\u2019 ne sont donc pas pour rien consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme le principal risque du 21\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Et cette pression ou ce stress augmentent encore du fait que nous semblons faire souvent les mauvais choix dans notre fa\u00e7on de travailler. Ces \u2018mauvais\u2019 choix sont dus \u00e0 une compr\u00e9hension insuffisante ou \u00e0 un manque de prise de conscience de la fa\u00e7on dont fonctionne notre cerveau, et entra\u00eenent une diminution de la productivit\u00e9, une r\u00e9duction de la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 et une augmentation des erreurs.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Quels sont donc les\u00a0six pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s ou fausses id\u00e9es fr\u00e9quentes quant au fonctionnement du cerveau humain :<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>1. Je peux mieux me concentrer, lorsque je suis assis<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLa r\u00e9alit\u00e9, c\u2019est qu\u2019une position assise trop longue impacte n\u00e9gativement la concentration, alors que le mouvement favorise la production de la prot\u00e9ine BDNF (un facteur de stimulation des cellules nerveuses) n\u00e9cessaire pour l\u2019apprentissage de nouvelles choses, la m\u00e9morisation et l\u2019invention de concepts. Bouger r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement durant la journ\u00e9e de travail am\u00e9liore donc la concentration.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2. Le dessin n\u2019est r\u00e9serv\u00e9 qu\u2019aux seuls esprits cr\u00e9atifs<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nTous les humains pensent davantage en termes de formes, d\u2019images et de mod\u00e8les qu\u2019en termes de chiffres et de lettres. L\u2019utilisation d\u2019outils analogiques et num\u00e9riques pour visualiser l\u2019information supporte notre r\u00e9flexion d\u2019une mani\u00e8re naturelle et contribue \u00e0 une meilleure focalisation.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>3. Je suis plus productif, lorsque j\u2019effectue plusieurs t\u00e2ches \u00e0 la fois<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nVoil\u00e0 peut-\u00eatre la fausse id\u00e9e la plus tenace qui existe \u00e0 propos de la fa\u00e7on de travailler. Car qui ne r\u00e9pond par exemple pas rapidement \u00e0 quelques mails durant une t\u00e9l\u00e9conf\u00e9rence? Le fait est que le multit\u00e2che ne nous rend pas plus productifs, mais au contraire g\u00e9n\u00e8re des r\u00e9sultats moindres. Effectuer plusieurs t\u00e2ches simultan\u00e9ment accro\u00eet le risque d\u2019erreurs de 50 pour cent, comme il ressort de l\u2019enqu\u00eate. Notre cerveau ne convient tout simplement pas pour axer en permanence notre attention sur plusieurs choses \u00e0 la fois. Alors que nous pensons nous livrer \u00e0 du multit\u00e2che, c\u2019est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 notre cerveau qui est en train de basculer tr\u00e8s rapidement d\u2019une t\u00e2che \u00e0 l\u2019autre. Un lieu de travail libre de distractions et d\u2019influences perturbatrices nous aide \u00e0 nous prot\u00e9ger nous-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>4. Je suis vite distrait \u00e0 cause de mon cerveau<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nLe cerveau humain peut en principe parfaitement demeurer en mode concentration pendant assez longtemps. Mais il semble que nous, les humains, nous l\u2019oubliions plus ou moins dans notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 moderne, o\u00f9 nous sommes continuellement expos\u00e9s \u00e0 des influences ext\u00e9rieures. Des formations de pleine conscience (mindfulness) peuvent nous aider \u00e0 mieux fixer nos id\u00e9es au moment pr\u00e9sent. La pleine conscience accro\u00eet manifestement la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019activit\u00e9 gamma dans le cerveau, ce qui se traduit par des id\u00e9es cibl\u00e9es. Un espace au travail, o\u00f9 les gens peuvent se retrouver et \u00e9chapper quelques instants \u00e0 l\u2019agitation du bureau, aide \u00e0 se reconcentrer correctement.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>5. Si je travaille plus longtemps, j\u2019en fais plus<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nTout comme le corps se fatigue, le cerveau a aussi besoin de repos \u00e0 un moment donn\u00e9. La capacit\u00e9 de traitement du cerveau humain est limit\u00e9e. Une concentration\u00a0absolue n\u2019est en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral pas possible plus de 45 minutes. Le fait de marquer r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement de courtes pauses aide \u00e0 se d\u00e9connecter quelque peu et \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9claircir au maximum les id\u00e9es tout au long de la journ\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>6. Je n\u2019ai pas besoin de plus de quatre heures de sommeil par nuit<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nPour embrayer sur le point pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, abordons le r\u00f4le que le sommeil joue sur notre pouvoir de concentration. Lorsque quelqu\u2019un dort trop peu, il pr\u00e9sente des carences au niveau de la r\u00e9flexion et de l\u2019apprentissage et a du mal \u00e0 contr\u00f4ler ses humeurs. Dormir suffisamment la nuit et se r\u00e9server de brefs moments de d\u00e9tente la journ\u00e9e am\u00e9liorent la puissance de r\u00e9flexion.<\/p>\n<p>De quoi modifier de mani\u00e8re significative nos comportements et nos \u00e9quilibres entre vie priv\u00e9e et vie professionnelle.
